Weekly Photos: Shop Yard Nursery (5/21/18)

We are in the home stretch of the shop yard nursery, which now contains 9 pallets of Celebration bermuda and 9 pallets of Tif419 bermuda.  The nursery contains 6 hunter irrigation heads, a quick coupler, and a control box for programming.  It's been a long project that started back in 2016, but we hope to be able to use the nursery to fill weak spots throughout the course without having to continually purchase sod.
Stump Pile
The yard contained old broken equipment, unusable fuel tanks, other junk, and two large stump piles.  We began cleaning out the area last winter.  We've added excess soil/sand from renovation projects throughout the last year and smoothed it out with box blade.  The bermuda in the area was sprayed multiple times with roundup, and last week with roundup/fusilade.  The irrigation system was added to the area earlier this year.

Post Spray/Pre-till (5/16/18)
Tiller (5/17-5/18/18)
On Thursday and Friday, we tilled the area with a walk behind tiller to prep the soil and to loosen rocks, trash, wood, etc.

Sand pro with Tines (5/19/18)
We used a Sand Pro with attached tines to smooth out the existing soil and continue to unearth the loose rocks, wood, and trash.  Then we picked up all the large rocks and trash by hand and discarded them.

Chocolate Loam (5/20/18)
We added two loads of chocolate loam to mix in with the existing soil, with the purpose of smoothing out the area and adding a more optimal growing medium.

Sand Pro (5/20/18) 8:45 am
The chocolate loam was then smoothed out and dragged in with the Sand Pro.  And then we received 2.5" of rain over a short span of time.

(5/20/18 - 8:50 a.m.)

(5/20/18 - 8:55 a.m.)
We hand raked the area to fix the flooded areas (after setting up for an outside tournament), then began laying the truckload of sod we received earlier in the morning.

Top Half: Celebration, Bottom Half: 419
We plan on adding decomposed granite around the perimeter of the sod along the fence line later.  The leftover sod will be used on 5/22/18.  The upcoming challenge will be trying to smooth the sod out over time by topdressing, rolling, aerifying/rolling, etc.

Weekly Photos: 5/10/18

Below are updated photos of the riparian renovation project, which displays the current status of the annual ryegrass germination.  We will have to manually remove broadleaf weeds in each of these areas, and the slope on #7 will need additional soil and seed to fix the erosion from the latest rain event (3.25" on 5/4/18).  Also included are a couple photos from our aerification and two photos of the new tee markers.  I'll try to take comparative photos from the exact same locations in the following weeks in order to properly view the progress.
